EFTF mixes guided walks of tile-clad neighborhoods with day trips to the sites of nearby Belém and Sintra. In between, you will dine at our favorite restaurants. The children are engaged with games, treasure hunts, playgrounds and local treats along the way.

Spain’s capital is walkable, full of excitement and history (not to mention delicious tapas).

With EFTF Tours, your family will amble among Madrid’s lively neighborhoods, take-in some all-time art and be whisked away to the essential nearby towns of Toledo and Segovia. We will experience Spain’s incredible food scene on a timetable that works for families.

OUR FAMILY TRAVEL STYLE

Group Tours Designed For Families

We don’t have to tell you about the importance of travel. We’re here to tell you it is possible. EFTF signature tours include itineraries at a child-friendly pace, nannies on our excursions, images of your family captured by a professional photographer and an optional ‘Parents Night Out.’ We have the tips, tools and strategies to make travel in Europe enjoyable and accessible for the entire family.

EFTF Small Group Tours

We will not be in a big coach bus lumbering around town! Our tour groups host 2 - 4 families for a total of 8 - 14 travelers (including children). These group sizes allow for meaningful interaction with your fellow travelers as you share experiences. It also keeps us nimble for moving about. Enjoy independent family time travel with the cost-saving benefits of group travel. 

The EFTF Goal

Remember the old joke about needing a vacation from your vacation? Our goal is to keep that joke from becoming your reality. EFTF takes the stress out of planning your trip and understands the particular needs of having children in tow. We metaphorically (and sometimes quite literally) do the heavy lifting for you. Europeans love children. Pushing a stroller over cobblestone roads, you may think otherwise. But, trust us when we say that children can unlock some acts of kindness that most visitors will never see. EFTF builds in child care options as well, so parents can also be on vacation. 

Expect To Eat Well

Break the typical tourist cycle: visit a site, grow hungry, then scarf down whatever is close by. That always leads to disappointment. Our tours are designed to dovetail the sites with the cuisine. We enjoy traditional food, but have a special place in our hearts (read: bellies) for new interpretations of the old favorites. We have never let our own children get in the way of a meal when traveling – and you shouldn’t either. And just in case, we always pack snacks. 

Travel Smart, Not Hard

We tend to begin early, beating the crowds whilst maximizing the children’s best hours of the day. EFTF balances the experiential with the practical. We’ll enjoy walking tours and we’ll take some public transportation. But, we respect the attention threshold of children, especially on the go. Sometimes, after a full touring agenda, a private, air-conditioned van ride is just what everybody needs. Rest assured we’ve made the mistakes in the past so that now you don’t waste time or money. 

Buy Local, Hire Local

This may seem obvious, but it’s worth stating: EFTF is committed to being conscientious travelers. We hire local tour guides and operators to facilitate our experiences in a given city. We eat the local food and drink the local beer or wine. If that’s how they take their coffee, we’ll try it that way. EFTF will give you the tools to comfortably immerse yourself in your new surroundings.

We acknowledge that families come in all forms. We welcome family units of all shapes and sizes. A big part of travel is honoring and respecting your environment. The same can be said of our tour groups: we have a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination of any kind.
